My work in France is done in a hilly area on the south coast of Brittany, near the 19th century artists' mecca of Pont-Aven, where Paul Gauguin painted before going to Tahiti.  Situated close to the tip of a peninsula, between the Aven and the Belon Rivers, the open ocean and rocky cliffs are only a short walk.

All around are grain fields, with their continually changing crops--buckwheat, rye, peas and beans, beets and corn.  The colors here are intense and the weather and light dramatic.
